8 Quick Tips to Improve Your Nutrition

1)      Eat less fat.  Fat is most often found in packaged foods, oils, and high fat meats and dairy.

2)      If you want to feel alive, eat “live” foods.  This means eating as many whole foods as possible, such as fruits, vegetables and grains.

3)      Reduce or eliminate the ingestion of the flesh of animals.  This involves moving towards a vegetable based diet.  Yes, you can get protein from many non-animal sources and in enough quantity to repair and rebuild our bodies.

4)      Reduce or eliminate the consumption of high fat dairy products from our diet.  This includes cheese and cream (ice cream, too!).

5)      Reduce or eliminate the consumption of refined sugar and sugar infused products.

6)      Decrease caffeine intake.  The revved up feeling we get from caffeine is typically followed by a crash in energy.  It is better to allow our bodies to regulate its own energy level internally then to create a series of artificial ups and downs

7)      Increase the water content of your foods.    You can easily do this by eating more fruits, vegetables and salads.

8)      Avoid white foods.  This includes white potatoes, white bread, pasta and white rice.  Alternatives include sweet potatoes, non-sugar added whole grain bread, whole grain pasta, and brown rice, quinoa or pearl barley, respectively.
